Ntl/Virgin Media/Telewest Blueyonder Digital TV Remote Control Instruction ManualYour new Virgin Media/Ntl Digital TV remote control has been designed and manufactured to extremely high standards and will provide many years of reliable service. Your remote can be programmed to control your television’s VOLUME and MUTE – so you now only need one remote to watch TV. Please take the time to read this user manual and to familiarise yourself with all of your remote’s features. This will help you to get the most out of your digital TV service. Works for the models shown in the picture below.
1. Getting StartedInserting batteries into your Virgin Media/Ntl Digital remote control Your remote is supplied with two 1.5 V AAA batteries. Step 1 - Slide open the battery compartment cover and insert the batteries as shown on the inside of the battery slots Step 2 - Replace the battery compartment cover, making sure it clicks shut. Step 3 - Press any key on the remote. If the indicator light flashes, this indicates that the batteries have been inserted correctly. Replacing batteries When the batteries on your remote become worn down, the indicator light flashes less brightly than usual, and you may find that the handset is less reliable in daily use. When replacing the batteries, we recommend only new alkaline batteries are used. Never combine new and old batteries together as this will shorten the battery life and affect the performance of the remote. When removing old batteries, the programmed code and any other settings may be lost. If this happens, the remote will return to the un-programmed state of a new remote (i.e. it will no longer be programmed to control your TV). Please follow the instructions in Section 2 of this user guide to re-programme the remote again. The programmed code will normally be kept if you avoid pressing any keys on the remote whilst the batteries are removed, and insert the new batteries within two minutes. Immediately remove a battery if it shows any sign of leaking, and dispose of used batteries as recommended by the manufacturer. 2. Setting up your remoteYour remote will already work with your Virgin Media/Ntl Digital TV set-top box. You can also set it up to control the volume and mute functions of your TV. This allows you to set aside your TV remote, and use only the Virgin Media/Ntl Digital remote for normal viewing. The following instructions will guide you step-by-step through setting up your remote to work correctly with your model of television. IMPORTANT Before starting, make sure your set-top volume is not muted (the <MUTE ICON> symbol should not be displayed on screen). Use the VOLUME + and – keys on your remote to adjust the volume of your set-top box to number 10. The screen will display <10 ICON> Next, look up the code(s) for your TV brand by clicking on the Codelist and write it down. If your TV manufacturer is not listed, follow the instructions in section 2.2 (Code Search). Quick Step 1 – Prepare your TV Switch on the TV set and ensure that a picture is displayed.
