1. Getting Started

Inserting batteries into your Virgin Media/Ntl Digital remote control

Your remote is supplied with two 1.5 V AAA batteries.

Step 1 - Slide open the battery compartment cover and insert the batteries as shown on the inside of the battery slots

Step 2 - Replace the battery compartment cover, making sure it clicks shut.

Step 3 - Press any key on the remote. If the indicator light flashes, this indicates that the batteries have been inserted correctly.

Replacing batteries

When the batteries on your remote become worn down, the indicator light flashes less brightly than usual, and you may find that the handset is less reliable in daily use.

When replacing the batteries, we recommend only new alkaline batteries are used. Never combine new and old batteries together as this will shorten the battery life and affect the performance of the remote.

When removing old batteries, the programmed code and any other settings may be lost. If this happens, the remote will return to the un-programmed state of a new remote (i.e. it will no longer be programmed to control your TV). Please follow the instructions in Section 2 of this user guide to re-programme the remote again. The programmed code will normally be kept if you avoid pressing any keys on the remote whilst the batteries are removed, and insert the new batteries within two minutes.

Immediately remove a battery if it shows any sign of leaking, and dispose of used batteries as recommended by the manufacturer.

Your remote will already work with your Virgin Media/Ntl Digital TV set-top box. You can also set it up to control the volume and mute functions of your TV. This allows you to set aside your TV remote, and use only the Virgin Media/Ntl Digital remote for normal viewing.

The following instructions will guide you step-by-step through setting up your remote to work correctly with your model of television.

Has any liquid been spilled on the remote? If so, leave the remote upside down to dry in a clean place. Clean the keys with a soft damp cloth – do not use cleaning liquids or sprays, as this will cause damage to the remote keys and casing.

Are you using fluorescent or energy saving light bulbs in the same room as your TV? These forms of lighting can sometimes interfere with the signals from your remote. Try turning off the lights to see if your remote performance improves.
