Ntl/Virgin Media/Telewest Blueyonder Webspace Uploading InformationYou need to be an Ntl, Blueyonder or Virgin Media customer and know your default username and password to access the FREE 55MB of web space. If you do not know your password and username then click here for details. To upload to your web space is very easy and FREE, you DON'T need to pay for an upload FTP server. There are 3 FREE upload options detailed below, I hope you find them useful. You will need to be actually on a Ntl, Blueyonder or Virgin Media connection to upload, it will not work from other connections. PLEASE NOTE:- You will need to make sure you main start page is called index.htm or index.html or it will not be able to be viewed correctly on the web. ** If you haven't created a website yet then use FREE NVU with free website templates (rivals paid for programs like FrontPage, Web Expressions and Dreamweaver the download also has a simple tutorial) **
Upload Option 1 - Open My Network Places. Then click add a network place, the network wizard will open and here you click next, the next window that opens checks servers for a couple of minutes then a list comes up you hi-light "choose another network location" then click next, in the internet or network address box put in (for Ntl customers) ftp://upload.ntlworld.com/ (for Ntl customers)
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/username or In your "My Network Place" there will now be a folder called WEB UPLOAD. If you double click this folder it will now let you access and upload your site at any time from now on without having to go through the whole process again. If when you double click the icon it says "you cant access the folder" then go to the File tab enter your username and password, put a tick in save password and then click logon. Upload Option 2 - Open internet explorer and type in the address bar (for Ntl customers) ftp://upload.ntlworld.com/
(for Ntl customers)
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/username or
Upload Option 3 - If you have made a web page and want to upload it to Ntl or Virgin Media then they recommend you use an FTP server where you need to pay to use them. This is not necessary. If your web page has been produced through Microsoft Frontpage then just click on “publish web” under file column and copy and paste this into the empty space clearing all characters that are already there for Ntl customers) ftp://upload.ntlworld.com/ (for Ntl customers) http://homepage.ntlworld.com/username or Upload Option 4 - Use a FREE downloadable FTP server like Smart FTP to upload any website made on any program. You FTP servers to upload to are (for Ntl customers) ftp://upload.ntlworld.com/ for Ntl customers) http://homepage.ntlworld.com/username or Details on how to get your username and password - Your WEB SPACE username and password may not be the same as your email username and password if you have changed your password or made another email address from the default from when you first registered with Ntl, Blueyonder or Virgin Media. You need to call customer service on 150 from an Ntl, Blueyonder or Virgin Media line or 0845 454 0000 to have them check and reset your WEB SPACE password and username (you can also change the web space name to any other Ntl, Blueyonder or Virgin Media email address you have made while you are on the phone). You might need to be pushy when calling customer service to have the WEB SPACE address changed as most customer service advisors don't know you are allowed to do it. Contrary to what it says on Ntl, Blueyonder or Virgin Media's help pages just changing your password online only changes it for your emails, your WEB SPACE password needs to be changed through the customer service department.
