Free Editors for Photos, Images, Pictures and Files

All of the software below are free and will give you the option to edit your photos, images, pictures and even change the file extensions of pictures i.e. you can change a .bmp file to a .jpg/jpeg file or a .gif to .bmp etc. Some even have the ability to make icons .ico files. The choice of what software you decide to use is entirely up to yourself. Just click on the name to download the program.

1. Picasa Download - Locate and organise all the photos on your computer, edit and add effects to your photos with a few simple clicks, share your photos with others through email, prints and on the web: it’s fast, easy and free. 2. Gimp Download - Gimp is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It supports all major graphic formats (BMP, JPEG, JPEG 2000, animated GIF, PNG, PCX, TIFF, WMF, ICO and TGA)
3. Paint.NET Download - Paint.NET is free image editing and photo manipulation software designed to be used on computers that run Windows. It supports layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools. Originally intended as a free replacement for the MS Paint software that comes with Windows, it has grown into a powerful yet simple tool for photo and image editing. It supports all major graphic formats (BMP, JPEG, JPEG 2000, animated GIF, PNG, PCX, TIFF, WMF, ICO and TGA)
4. FastStone Image Viewer Download - FastStone Image Viewer is a fast, stable, user-friendly image browser, converter and editor. It has a nice array of features that include image viewing, management, comparison, red-eye removal, emailing, resizing, cropping and color adjustments.
