Windows Live Messenger Making Internet Explorer and System Run Slowly

Go to your add/remove programs in your control panel and remove "windows live sign in" "windows live messenger" and "windows live installer" as well as any other windows live tool bar or installations that might be there.

Now go to this link and take the tick out of all the windows live options before installing the messenger service alone. During install DO NOT choose any additional options you want to install (including the mail option) as this only installs toolbars and search options. This may take a few minutes to install. Now sign into Messenger and go to tools, options, then sharing folders and take the tick out of "Use a sharing folder"  Your browser should be working fine now with only the windows live messenger installed without any the other extra not needed options.

Windows Live Messenger Restarting Fix

If your Windows Live Messenger or any other program is causing your computer to restart, then there is a very simple and easy fix. Go to your "control panel" and choose "system" then click on the "advanced" tab then select the "settings" button next to "startup and recovery" and uncheck "automatically restart" then hit ok. To turn off the annoying error reporting for everything except critical errors then click on "error reporting" and select "disable error reporting" and put a tick in "But notify me when critical errors occur"
On the other hand if it is a hardware rather than a software problem, Random restarts may be caused by overheating or a failing power supply unit, among other reasons. Check the case vents and fan outlets to see if they're blocked with dust or gunk. You could open the case to check if all fans are working, but if you have a warranty, you will likely void it by opening the case. Also  if windows live messenger keeps restarting and you are losing your connection all the time, then the probelm seems to be the amount of memory it uses while using "sharing folder" in the newer version. I would suggest turning off the sharing folder by going to tools, then options, then choose sharing folder from the left hand column and then take the tick out of "use a sharing folder". (you will still be able to transfer files to and from other users using file transfer). If this option doesnt help you then use the older version MSN Messenger 7.5 that didnt have the sharing folder option.

Cannot sign into Windows Live Messenger/Hotmail or Windows Live ID or Mail

Try signing into MSN Account Services or MSN Web Messenger first to check your connection settings . If you can sign into Web Messenger then you will need to configure your firewall and router if you have one to allow MSN Live Messsenger to operate by allowing full access on your firewall and opening ports on your router (list of ports are here). If you cannot sign into MSN Account Services then your password needs to be reset this can be done here or if you have forgot the details then try contacting MSN direct here
